ubc-15 encodes an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme predicted to mediate the covalent attachment of an activated ubiquityl moiety to a substrate protein; as loss of UBC-15 activity via RNA-mediated interference (RNAi) does not result in any abnormalities, the precise role of UBC-15 in C. elegans development and/or behavior is not yet known; by sequence similarity, however, UBC-15 is predicted to function in protein modification and turnover.
