Caenorhabditis elegans
GAB-1
CELE_ZC482.1, GABAR/1, gbr-1, ZC482.1
gab-1 encodes a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor beta-like subunit with both the neurotransmitter-gated ion-channel ligand binding and transmembrane domains; gab-1 can form a GABA-responsive channel when co-expressed with alpha/gamma type subunits in a heterologous expression system; experiments with gab-1 indicate that GABA receptors are involved in the mechanism of resistance to the widely used broad-spectrum anthelmintic drug Ivermectin.
