cul-5 encodes a cullin, orthologous to vasopressin-activated calcium-mobilizing receptor-1 in mammals, that is thought to regulate the cell cycle by virtue of its paralogy to cul-1 and cul-2; however, CUL-5 is dispensable for viability and gross morphology in mass RNAi screens, and does not appear to interact with any of 17 Skp1-related proteins (SKR-1 through SKR-21).
