C25E10.8 encodes a putative secreted TIL-domain protease inhibitor paralogous to SWM-1, ISL-1, and the products of 11 other C. elegans genes; C25E10.8 and its relatives are collectively similar to other TIL-domain protease inhibitors from nematodes, insects, and vertebrates; despite both swm-1 and C25E10.8 being mutated by the swm-1(ok1193) deletion, transgenic rescue of swm-1(ok1193) by SWM-1 alone leaves males with no obvious residual phenotype, indicating that C25E10.8 has no conspicuous function in vivo.
