LIN-53
CELE_K07A1.12, rba-2, K07A1.12
lin-53 encodes a class B synMuv protein containing a 7 WD-repeat similar to the mammalian homolog RbAp48 (OMIM: 602923), an interaction between LIN-53 and LIN-9 is important for the incorporation of LIN-53 into the DRM complex; a complete loss of LIN-53 disrupts DRM complex formation and result in the degradation of other complex members; Null mutations in lin-53 causes decreases in the protein levels of other DRM complex components, including LIN-9, LIN-37, LIN-52, and LIN-54 for transcriptional repression; LIN-53 is present in both the DRM complex and a NuRD-like complex; LIN-53 remain associated throughout larval development, including the late L2 and early L3 stages when the fates of the Pn.p cells are specified.
