ALH-9

CELE_F01F1.6, F01F1.6
alh-9 encodes a highly conserved aldehyde dehydrogenase that is a member of the ALDH7 (antiquitin/ATQ) family of aldehyde dehydrogenases, mutations in which are associated with pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy (OMIM:107323); by sequence similarity, ALH-9 is predicted to catalyze aldehyde oxidation; loss of alh-9 activity via RNAi results in embryonic and larval lethality, slow growth, sterility, and body morphology defects.
