Caenorhabditis elegans
SNR-5
CELE_ZK652.1, ZK652.1
snr-5 encodes an ortholog of human small nuclear ribonucleoprotein SmF, a protein that forms part of a heptameric complex required for biogenesis and function of the snRNPs that catalyze mRNA splicing; in combination with the gene that encodes the human SmE and SmG orthologs (snr-6 and snr-7, respectively), snr-5 affects embryonic viability and nuclear association and localization of P granules in embryos, based on an RNAi assay; affects embryonic and larval viability based on large-scale RNAi assays; snr-5 is expressed in embryos and adult gonads.
