Y45F10D.7 encodes a WD40 repeat-containing protein that is the C. elegans ortholog of human WDR36, mutations in which cause primary open angle glaucoma type 1G (GLC1G, OMIM:609887); large-scale RNAi experiments indicate that Y45F10D.7 activity is required for embryonic and larval development; the Saccharomyces cerevisiae homolog of WDR36, Utp21, is a component of the small-subunit (SSU) processome required for formation of 18S rRNA.
