mup-2 encodes the muscle contractile protein troponin T ( TnT ) homologous to vertebrate and invertebrate TnT and contains an invertebrate- specific COOH -terminal tail; mup-2 affects embryonic body wall muscle cell contraction, sarcomere organization, cell positioning, regulated muscle contraction in larval and adult body wall muscle, epidermal morphogenesis, and is required for proper function of the hermaphrodite nonstriated oviduct myoepithelial sheath, proper growth, and fertility.
