The association of a La module with the PABP-interacting motif PAM2 is a recurrent evolutionary process that led to the neofunctionalization of La-related proteins.
La-related proteins (LARPs) are largely uncharacterized factors, well conserved throughout evolution. Recent reports on the function of human LARP4 and LARP6 suggest that these proteins fulfill key functions in mRNA metabolism and/or translation. We report here a detailed evolutionary history of the LARP4 and 6 families in eukaryotes. Genes coding for LARP4 and 6 were duplicated in the common ancestor ... [more]

AT2G43970 PAB2 | Affinity Capture-Western Affinity Capture-Western An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins. | Low | - | BioGRID | - | |
