Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Interaction codes within the family of mammalian Phox and Bem1p domain-containing proteins.
The Phox and Bem1p (PB1) domain constitutes a recently recognized protein-protein interaction domain found in the atypical protein kinase C (aPKC) isoenzymes, lambda/iota- and zeta PKC; members of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) modules like MEK5, MEKK2, and MEKK3; and in several scaffold proteins involved in cellular signaling. Among the last group, p62 and Par6 (partitioning-defective 6) are involved in coupling ... [more]
