Caenorhabditis elegans

LRK-1

CELE_T27C10.6, T27C10.6
lrk-1 encodes the sole C. elegans homolog of the leucine-rich repeat kinases, LRRK1 and the familial Parkinsonism gene PARK8/LRRK2; in C. elegans, lrk-1 is required for polarized localization of synaptic vesicle proteins to presynaptic regions; LRK-1 functions antagonistically to PINK-1 to regulate oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stress response as well as neurite outgrowth; LRK-1 is widely expressed and localizes to the Golgi apparatus.
