sol-2 encodes a CUB and LDLa domain-containing type I transmembrane protein homologous to the vertebrate Neto proteins; SOL-2 functions as an auxiliary protein that positively regulates activity of the AMPA-subtype ionotropic glutamate receptor, GLR-1, and thus regulates glutamate-mediated synaptic transmission and behavior; a sol-2::GFP promoter fusion is expressed in head and tail neurons, including command interneurons and neurons that also express GLR-1 and SOL-1.
