SMU-2
CELE_Y49F6B.4, Y49F6B.4
smu-2 encodes a protein with homology to the mammalian nuclear protein RED that affects the accumulation of alternatively spliced unc-52 transcripts; SMU-2 activity is required, along with that of SMU-1, for regulation of splice site choice in the pre-mRNAs of unc-52 and other genes; SMU-2 physically interacts with SMU-1 both in vitro and in vivo, and stabilizes SMU-1; SMU-2 is ubiquitously expressed and localizes to both the nucleus and the nucleolus.
