Caenorhabditis elegans
MLT-7
CELE_ZK430.8, phi-48, ZK430.8
mlt-7 encodes an animal heme peroxidase; MLT-7 is required for formation of the C. elegans cuticle and normal molting; specifically, MLT-7 functions in combination with BLI-3/DUOX for proper cross-linking of cuticular collagens; when expressed in vitro, MLT-7 exhibits peroxidase activity; MLT-7 is expressed in the hypodermis, which synthesizes the cuticle, at each larval molt.
