lpd-7 encodes a BRCT domain-containing protein that is orthologous to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Nop7p and the vertebrate pescadillo proteins required for nucleolar assembly, ribosome biogenesis, and cell proliferation; loss of lpd-7 activity via RNAi indicates that, in C. elegans, LPD-7 is required for fat storage and for larval growth and development; based upon its similarity to the yeast and vertebrate proteins, LPD-7 is predicted to localize to the nucleolus.
