NHR-73

CELE_C27C7.4, C27C7.4
nhr-73 encodes a member of the superfamily of nuclear receptors, which is one of the most abundant class of transcriptional regulators; nuclear receptors have a well conserved DNA binding domain and a less conserved C-terminal ligand binding domain; expression studies using GFP fusions indicate that nhr-73 is expressed exclusively in lateral seam cells; expression of nhr-73 is seen in early embryonic lateral hypodermal cells and continues to persist in the daughter cell that continues to divide and is lost in the daughter cell that differentiates; nhr-73 expression is diminished by knocking down genes (via RNA interference) that are involved in seam cell development like elt-5 and ceh-16/engrailed.
