Biochemical Activity (Phosphorylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Effect of phosphorylation on interaction of human tau protein with 14-3-3zeta.

Sluchanko NN, Seit-Nebi AS, Gusev NB

Interaction of the shortest isoform of tau protein (tau3) with human 14-3-3zeta was analyzed by means of native gel electrophoresis, chemical crosslinking and size-exclusion chromatography. Phosphorylation by cAMP-dependent protein kinase (up to 2 mole of phosphate per mole of tau3) strongly enhanced interaction of tau3 with 14-3-3. Apparent K(D) of the complexes formed by phosphorylated tau3 and 14-3-3 was close ... [more]
