Biochemical Activity (Ubiquitination)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Damage-induced ubiquitylation of human RNA polymerase II by the ubiquitin ligase Nedd4, but not Cockayne syndrome proteins or BRCA1.

Anindya R, Ayguen O, Svejstrup JQ

UV-induced RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) ubiquitylation and degradation are important DNA damage responses, conserved from yeast to man. However, the identity of the human enzymes that mediate these responses has been unclear. Previously, Cockayne syndrome proteins and BRCA1 were implicated in the process. Surprisingly, using a recently developed assay system, we found that these factors are not directly involved in ... [more]
