Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Tripartite Motif-Containing Protein 38 Negatively Regulates TLR3/4- and RIG-I-Mediated IFN-β Production and Antiviral Response by Targeting NAP1.

Zhao W, Wang L, Zhang M, Wang P, Yuan C, Qi J, Meng H, Gao C

Recognition of RNA virus through TLR and RIG-I-like receptor results in rapid expression of type I IFNs, which play an essential role in host antiviral responses. However, the mechanisms to terminate the production of type I IFNs are not well defined. In the current study, we identified a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family, TRIM38, as a negative regulator ... [more]
