SLT1, YGL098W
Essential SNARE protein localized to the ER; involved in retrograde traffic from the Golgi to the ER and Sey1p-independent homotypic ER fusion; required for efficient nuclear fusion during mating; forms a complex with the SNAREs Sec22p, Sec20p and Ufe1p

PREY

YKT6

palmitoyltransferase YKT6, L000004163, YKL196C
Vesicle membrane protein (v-SNARE) with acyltransferase activity; involved in trafficking to and within the Golgi, endocytic trafficking to the vacuole, and vacuolar fusion; membrane localization due to prenylation at the carboxy-terminus
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

SNAREs (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors) are central components of the machinery mediating membrane fusion in all eukaryotic cells. Sequence analysis of the yeast genome revealed a previously uncharacterized SNARE, SNARE-like tail-anchored protein 1 (Slt1). Slt1 is an essential protein localized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It forms a SNARE complex with Sec22 and the ER syntaxin Ufe1. Down-regulation ... [more]
