Biochemical Activity (Dephosphorylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Negative regulation of Pim-1 protein kinase levels by the B56beta subunit of PP2A.

Ma J, Arnold HK, Lilly MB, Sears RC, Kraft AS

The Pim protein kinases are serine threonine protein kinases that regulate important cellular signaling pathway molecules, and enhance the ability of c-Myc to induce lymphomas. We demonstrate that a cascade of events controls the cellular levels of Pim. We find that overexpression of the protein phosphatase (PP) 2A catalytic subunit decreases the activity and protein levels of Pim-1. This effect ... [more]
