Analysis of the protein-protein interactions between the human acidic ribosomal P-proteins: evaluation by the two hybrid system.

Tchorzewski M, Boldyreff B, Issinger OG, Grankowski N

The surface acidic ribosomal proteins (P-proteins), together with ribosomal core protein P0 form a multimeric lateral protuberance on the 60 S ribosomal subunit. This structure, also called stalk, is important for efficient translational activity of the ribosome. In order to shed more light on the function of these proteins, we are the first to have precisely analyzed mutual interactions among ... [more]

Cross-Linking-MS (XL-MS)

An interaction is detected between two proteins using chemically reactive or photo-activatable cross-linking reagents that covalently link amino acids in close proximity, followed by mass spectrometry analysis to identify the linked peptides (reviewed in PMID 37406423, 37104977). Experiments may be carried with live cells or cell lysates in which all proteins are expressed at endogenous levels (e.g. PMID 34349018, 35235311) or with recombinant proteins (e.g., PMID 28537071).
