Estrogen receptor (ER)α is a well-characterized ligand-dependent transcription factor. However, the global picture of its nongenomic functions remains to be illustrated. Here, we demonstrate a novel function of ERα during mitosis that facilitates estrogen-dependent cell proliferation.
