aminophospholipid translocase regulatory protein CDC50, L000004326, YCR094W
Endosomal protein that interacts with phospholipid flippase Drs2p; interaction with Cdc50p is essential for Drs2p catalytic activity; mutations affect cell polarity and polarized growth; similar to Lem3p; CDC50 has a paralog, YNR048W, that arose from the whole genome duplication

Synthetic Growth Defect

A genetic interaction is inferred when mutations in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, result in a significant growth defect under a given condition when combined in the same cell.

The cloning and characterization of the CDC50 gene family in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Radji M, Kim JM, Togan T, Yoshikawa H, Shirahige K

We have cloned a gene that complements the cold-sensitive growth of cdc50-1 mutant strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 14 degrees C. The CDC50 gene was found to be identical to YCR094w on chromosome III and contains 1173 nucleotides encoding 391 amino acids. We found a missense mutation at the first initiation codon of cdc50-1. The disruption of the CDC50 gene ... [more]
