BAIT
ARP2
ACT2, actin-related protein 2, L000000026, YDL029W
Essential component of the Arp2/3 complex; Arp2/3 is a highly conserved actin nucleation center required for the motility and integrity of actin patches; involved in endocytosis and membrane growth and polarity; required for efficient Golgi-to-ER trafficking in COPI mutants

NUP1
FG-nucleoporin NUP1, L000001288, YOR098C
FG-nucleoporin component of central core of the nuclear pore complex; contributes directly to nucleocytoplasmic transport and maintenance of thenuclear pore complex (NPC) permeability barrier; possible karyopherin release factor that accelerates release of karyopherin-cargo complexes after transport across NPC; both NUP1 and NUP60 are homologous to human NUP153

Synthetic Lethality
A genetic interaction is inferred when mutations or deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, result in lethality when combined in the same cell under a given condition.

A role for the divergent actin gene, ACT2, in nuclear pore structure and function.
We have identified a temperature-sensitive allele of the yeast divergent actin gene ACT2, act2-1, which displays defects in nuclear pore complex (NPC) structure and nuclear import at the restrictive temperature. Although defective in nuclear import, act2-1 cells still selectively retain reporter proteins in the nucleus, and by indirect immunofluorescence the actin cytoskeleton appears normal.
