RPS19A

ribosomal 40S subunit protein S19A, S19e, rp55a, YS16A, S19A, S16aA, L000003299, YOL121C
Protein component of the small (40S) ribosomal subunit; required for assembly and maturation of pre-40 S particles; homologous to mammalian ribosomal protein S19, no bacterial homolog; mutations in human RPS19 are associated with Diamond Blackfan anemia; RPS19A has a paralog, RPS19B, that arose from the whole genome duplication

RPN11

MPR1, proteasome regulatory particle lid subunit RPN11, L000002976, L000002965, YFR004W
Metalloprotease subunit of 19S regulatory particle; part of 26S proteasome lid; couples the deubiquitination and degradation of proteasome substrates; involved, independent of catalytic activity, in fission of mitochondria and peroxisomes; protein abundance increases in response to DNA replication stress

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
