RPL33B

RPL37B, ribosomal 60S subunit protein L33B, L33e, rp47, Yl37, L37B, L33B, L000001729, YOR234C
Ribosomal 60S subunit protein L33B; rpl33b null mutant exhibits normal growth while rpl33a rpl33b double null mutant is inviable; homologous to mammalian ribosomal protein L35A, no bacterial homolog; RPL33B has a paralog, RPL33A, that arose from the whole genome duplication

RPN6

NAS4, proteasome regulatory particle lid subunit RPN6, L000004306, YDL097C
Essential, non-ATPase regulatory subunit of the 26S proteasome lid; required for the assembly and activity of the 26S proteasome; the human homolog (S9 protein) partially rescues Rpn6p depletion; protein abundance increases in response to DNA replication stress

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
