ATG14

APG14, CVT12, L000004763, L000004641, YBR128C
Autophagy-specific subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase complex I; Atg14p targets complex I to the phagophore assembly site (PAS); required for localizing additional ATG proteins to the PAS; required for overflow degradation of misfolded proteins when ERAD is saturated; homolog of human Barkor; other members are Vps34, Vps15, and Vps30p
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

IME1

transcription factor IME1, L000000861, YJR094C
Master regulator of meiosis that is active only during meiotic events; activates transcription of early meiotic genes through interaction with Ume6p; degraded by the 26S proteasome following phosphorylation by Ime2p; transcription is negatively regulated in cis by the IRT1 long noncoding antisense RNA

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
