RPS14A

CRY1, RPL59, ribosomal 40S subunit protein S14A, S11, rp59A, S14A, L000000423, YCR031C
Protein component of the small (40S) ribosomal subunit; required for ribosome assembly and 20S pre-rRNA processing; mutations confer cryptopleurine resistance; homologous to mammalian ribosomal protein S14 and bacterial S11; RPS14A has a paralog, RPS14B, that arose from the whole genome duplication
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

RPS14B

CRY2, ribosomal 40S subunit protein S14B, S11, rp59B, S14B, L000000424, YJL191W
Protein component of the small (40S) ribosomal subunit; required for ribosome assembly and 20S pre-rRNA processing; mutations confer cryptopleurine resistance; homologous to mammalian ribosomal protein S14 and bacterial S11; RPS14B has a paralog, RPS14A, that arose from the whole genome duplication
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
