RPS17B

RP51B, RPL51B, ribosomal 40S subunit protein S17B, S17e, S17B, L000001670, L000001741, YDR447C
Ribosomal protein 51 (rp51) of the small (40s) subunit; homologous to mammalian ribosomal protein S17, no bacterial homolog; RPS17B has a paralog, RPS17A, that arose from the whole genome duplication; protein abundance increases in response to DNA replication stress

PMP3

SNA1, YDR276C
Small plasma membrane protein; confers resistance to amphotericin B and is a potential target of this common antifungal drug; related to a family of plant polypeptides that are overexpressed under high salt concentration or low temperature; not essential for viability; deletion causes hyperpolarization of the plasma membrane potential

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
