SBH1

SEB1, YER087C-A, Arf family guanine nucleotide exchange factor SBH1, L000002846, L000004137, YER087C-B
Beta subunit of Sec61p ER translocation complex (Sec61p-Sss1p-Sbh1p); involved in protein translocation into the endoplasmic reticulum; interacts with the exocyst complex and also with Rtn1p; cotranslationally N-acetylated by NatA; SBH1 has a paralog, SBH2, that arose from the whole genome duplication
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)
PREY

SEC66

HSS1, SEC71, Sec63 complex subunit SEC66, L000001856, YBR171W
Non-essential subunit of Sec63 complex; with Sec61 complex, Kar2p/BiP and Lhs1p forms a channel competent for SRP-dependent and post-translational SRP-independent protein targeting and import into the ER; other members are Sec63p, Sec62p, and Sec72p

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
