IRC7

cysteine-S-conjugate beta-lyase IRC7, YFR055W
Beta-lyase involved in the production of thiols; null mutant displays increased levels of spontaneous Rad52p foci; expression induced by nitrogen limitation in a GLN3, GAT1-dependent manner and by copper levels in a Mac1-dependent manner

BFA1

IBD1, YJR053W
Component of the GTPase-activating Bfa1p-Bub2p complex; involved in multiple cell cycle checkpoint pathways that control exit from mitosis; specifically required when telomeres are damaged, but not for all types of chromosomal DNA damage; phosphorylated by the Polo-like kinase Cdc5p

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
