THI4

ESP35, MOL1, thiamine thiazole synthase, L000001133, L000000585, YGR144W
Thiazole synthase; abundant protein involved in the formation of the thiazole moiety of thiamine during thiamine biosynthesis; acts more as a co-substrate rather than an enzyme by providing the sulphur source for thiazole formation; undergoes a single turnover only; required for mitochondrial genome stability in response to DNA damaging agents

L000004720, YPR192W
Spore-specific water channel; mediates the transport of water across cell membranes, developmentally controlled; may play a role in spore maturation, probably by allowing water outflow, may be involved in freeze tolerance

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
