DGA1

diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase, YOR245C
Diacylglycerol acyltransferase; catalyzes the terminal step of triacylglycerol (TAG) formation, acylates diacylglycerol using acyl-CoA as an acyl donor; Lro1p and Dga1p can O-acylate ceramides; localized to lipid particles

ATG32

ECM37, mitophagy protein ATG32, L000003904, YIL146C
Mitochondrial outer membrane protein required to initiate mitophagy; recruits the autophagy adaptor protein Atg11p and the ubiquitin-like protein Atg8p to the mitochondrial surface to initiate mitophagy, the selective vacuolar degradation of mitochondria in response to starvation; can promote pexophagy when placed ectopically in the peroxisomal membrane; regulates mitophagy and ethanol production during alcoholic fermentation

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
