PXA1

LPI1, PAL1, PAT2, SSH2, ATP-binding cassette long-chain fatty acid transporter PXA1, L000001541, YPL147W
Subunit of a heterodimeric peroxisomal ABC transport complex; required for import of long-chain fatty acids into peroxisomes; similarity to human adrenoleukodystrophy transporter ABCD1 and ABCD2 and ALD-related proteins; mutations in ABCD1 cause X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD), a peroxisomal disorder; complex also includes Pxa2p

DOT1

PCH1, histone methyltransferase DOT1, KMT4, L000004390, L000004273, YDR440W
Nucleosomal histone H3-Lys79 methylase; methylation is required for telomeric silencing, meiotic checkpoint control, and DNA damage response
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
