INO2

DIE1, SCS1, L000000868, L000002801, YDR123C
Transcription factor; component of the heteromeric Ino2p/Ino4p basic helix-loop-helix transcription activator that binds inositol/choline-responsive elements (ICREs), required for derepression of phospholipid biosynthetic genes in response to inositol depletion; involved in diauxic shift
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Reconstituted Complex

An interaction is inferred between proteins in vitro. This can include proteins in recombinant form or proteins isolated directly from cells with recombinant or purified bait. For example, GST pull-down assays where a GST-tagged protein is first isolated and then used to fish interactors from cell lysates are considered reconstituted complexes (e.g. PUBMED: 14657240, Fig. 4A or PUBMED: 14761940, Fig. 5). This can also include gel-shifts, surface plasmon resonance, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and bio-layer interferometry (BLI) experiments. The bait-hit directionality may not be clear for 2 interacting proteins. In these cases the directionality is up to the discretion of the curator.

Promoter recruitment of corepressors Sin3 and Cyc8 by activator proteins of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Kliewe F, Engelhardt M, Aref R, Schueller HJ

It is generally assumed that pathway-specific transcriptional activators recruit pleiotropic coactivators (such as chromatin-modifying complexes or general transcription factors), while specific repressors contact pleiotropic corepressors creating an inaccessible chromatin by the action of histone deacetylases. We have previously shown that the negative regulator Opi1 of yeast phospholipid biosynthesis inhibits transcription by recruiting corepressors Sin3 and Cyc8 in the presence of ... [more]
