Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Alzheimer's beta-amyloid peptide blocks vascular endothelial growth factor mediated signaling via direct interaction with VEGFR-2.
Beta-amyloid peptides (Abeta) are the major constituents of senile plaques and cerebrovascular deposits in the brains of Alzheimer's disease patients. We have shown previously that soluble forms of Abeta are anti-angiogenic both in vitro and in vivo. However, the mechanism of the anti-angiogenic activity of Abeta peptides is unclear. In this study, we examined the effects of Abeta1-42 on vascular ... [more]
