Human MFAP1 is a cryptic ortholog of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae Spp381 splicing factor.
Pre-mRNA splicing involves the stepwise assembly of a pre-catalytic spliceosome, followed by its catalytic activation, splicing catalysis and disassembly.
