Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Plk2 promotes tumor growth and inhibits apoptosis by targeting Fbxw7/Cyclin E in colorectal cancer.
Polo-like kinase 2 (Plk2) and Polo-like kinase 3 (Plk3) have been documented as a tumor suppressor and are lowly expressed in several types of cancer. However, our results showed that Plk3 was lowly expressed, whereas Plk2 expressed highly in tumor tissues. We therefore aimed to explore the mechanisms governing the role of Plk2 in colorectal cancer (CRC). Our investigation demonstrated ... [more]
