Biochemical Activity (Phosphorylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Transcriptional control of the human aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 promoter by hepatocyte nuclear factor 4: inhibition by cyclic AMP and COUP transcription factors.

You M, Fischer M, Cho WK, Crabb D

An important regulatory element (designated FP330-3') of the ALDH2 promoter mediates activation by hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 (HNF4). This activation of promoter constructs containing this element by HNF4 was reduced by nearly half by 8-Br-cAMP in H4IIEC3 cells, an effect that was blocked by inhibitors of protein kinase A (PKA). Cotransfection assays showed that COUP-TF I, ARP-1, or PPARdelta suppressed ... [more]
