Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Transforming growth factor-beta induces the expression of ANF and hypertrophic growth in cultured cardiomyoblast cells through ZAK.
Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) has been associated with the onset of cardiac cell hypertrophy, but the mechanisms underlying this dissociation are not completely understood. By a previous study, we investigated the involvement of a MAP3K, ZAK, which in cultured H9c2 cardiac cells is a positive mediator of cell hypertrophy. Our results showed that expression of a dominant-negative form of ZAK ... [more]
