Gene Ontology Molecular Function
Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

The p90 ribosomal S6 kinase-UBR5 pathway controls Toll-like receptor signaling via miRNA-induced translational inhibition of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 3.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, noncoding RNAs that post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression. For example, miRNAs repress gene expression by recruiting the miRNA-induced silencing complex (miRISC), a ribonucleoprotein complex that contains miRNA-engaged Argonaute (Ago) and the scaffold protein GW182. Recently, ubiquitin-protein ligase E3 component N-recognin 5 (UBR5) has been identified as a component of miRISC. UBR5 directly interacts with GW182 proteins and ... [more]
