Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

VDUP1 mediates nuclear export of HIF1alpha via CRM1-dependent pathway.
Hypoxia-inducible factor 1alpha (HIF1alpha) is a critical transcriptional factor for inducing tumor metastasis, and stabilized under hypoxia but degraded by von Hippel-Lindau protein (pVHL) under normoxia. For the maximal degradation of HIF1alpha, it must be exported to the cytoplasm via an unidentified transporter. Here, we demonstrate that vitamin D3 up-regulated protein 1 (VDUP1) associates with the beta-domain of pVHL and ... [more]
