BAIT

MLP2

S000007510, YIL149C
Myosin-like protein associated with the nuclear envelope; nuclear basket protein that connects the nuclear pore complex with the nuclear interior; involved in the Tel1p pathway that controls telomere length; MLP2 has a paralog, MLP1, that arose from the whole genome duplication
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)
PREY

HEK2

KHD1, YBL032W
RNA binding protein involved in asymmetric localization of ASH1 mRNA; represses translation of ASH1 mRNA, an effect reversed by Yck1p-dependent phosphoryation; regulates telomere position effect and length; similarity to hnRNP-K

Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

While the activity of multiprotein complexes is crucial for cellular metabolism, little is known about the mechanisms that collectively control the expression of their components. Here, we investigate the regulations targeting the biogenesis of the nuclear pore complex (NPC), the macromolecular assembly mediating nucleocytoplasmic exchanges. Systematic analysis of RNA-binding proteins interactomes, together with in vivo and in vitro assays, reveal ... [more]
