Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Identification of a tissue-non-specific homologue of axonal fasciculation and elongation protein zeta-1.

Fujita T, Ikuta J, Hamada J, Okajima T, Tatematsu K, Tanizawa K, Kuroda S

Fasciculation and elongation protein zeta-1 (FEZ1) is a mammalian orthologue of the Caenorhabditis elegans UNC-76 protein involved in the axonal outgrowth and fasciculation and promotes neurite extension of PC12 cells through interaction with protein kinase C zeta (PKCzeta). The gene coding for FEZ2, a homologue of FEZ1, has also been reported in rat and human. In this study, we compared ... [more]
