Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

UNC119 is a binding partner of tumor suppressor Ras-association domain family 6 and induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest by MDM2 and p53.
Ras-association domain family 6 (RASSF6) is a tumor suppressor that interacts with MDM2 and stabilizes p53. Caenorhabditis elegans unc-119 encodes a protein that is required for normal development of the nervous system. Humans have 2 unc-119 homologues, UNC119 and UNC119B.
