Biochemical Activity (Acetylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

DNA-dependent acetylation of p53 by the transcription coactivator p300.

Dornan D, Shimizu H, Perkins ND, Hupp TR

Reconstitution of the stages in the assembly of the p300.p53 transcription complex has identified a novel type of DNA-dependent regulation of p300-catalyzed acetylation. Phosphorylation at the CHK2 site (Ser(20)) in the N-terminal activation domain of p53 stabilized p300 binding. The phosphopeptide binding activity of p300 was mapped in vitro to two domains: the C-terminal IBiD domain and the N-terminal IHD ... [more]
