Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

BNIPL-2, a novel homologue of BNIP-2, interacts with Bcl-2 and Cdc42GAP in apoptosis.
The execution phase of apoptosis is characterized by marked changes in cell morphology that include contraction and membrane blebbing. Little is known about the mechanisms underlying this process. We report here the identification of a novel member of BNIPL family, designated Bcl-2/adenovirus E1B 19kDa interacting protein 2 like-2 (BNIPL-2), which interacts with Bcl-2 and Cdc42GAP. We found that the human ... [more]
