Biochemical Activity (Sumoylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

The ribosomal protein L11 (RPL11) integrates different types of stress into a p53-mediated response. Here, we analyzed the impact of the ubiquitin-like protein SUMO on the RPL11-mouse double-minute 2 homolog-p53 signaling. We show that small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO)1 and SUMO2 covalently modify RPL11. We find that SUMO negatively modulates the conjugation of the ubiquitin-like protein neural precursor cell-expressed developmentally downregulated ... [more]
